Description
This is a close up detail from a large commissioned painting of 127x61 cm ( 50x24 inches ) about the wonderful sunset panoramic view of Florence, Italy as seen from Piazzale Michelangelo. Enjoyed so much to paint again this amazing view for my collector in U.S., inspired by my previous Florence abstract cityscapes from 2013 and the following years.
Florence Dome at sunset seen from Piazzale Michelangelo inspired me to paint this abstract cityscape. Everywhere I wandered, always I seek for panoramic views of the cities in which I am able to observe what I call the ABSTRACT CITY PATTERNS. The rhythm of the rooftops seen from the distance fascinates me. In my personal artistic vision the architectonic details create practically an aesthetic abstract pattern, that urges to be translated in differently morphed palette knife strokes and marks interacting with each other in various ways and generating the painterly quality of the impasto textures that I love so much. See my entire series of ABSTRACT CITYSCAPES to understand better what I'm talking about. :)
Florence Cathedral, formally the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, in English "Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Flower"), is the cathedral of Florence, Italy (Italian: Duomo di Firenze). It was begun in 1296 in the Gothic style to a design of Arnolfo di Cambio and was structurally completed by 1436, with the dome engineered by Filippo Brunelleschi.
