Description
When I visited Venice, I was also in the colorful Burano and I was lucky enough to be there from dawn... The sunrise light in Burano was an unforgetable moment and inspired me this painting.
This is a closer from one of my original textural impasto palette knife oil paintings of Burano I painted back in 2015.
Venice, fascinating Venice .... ''City of Canals'', ''City of Bridges'' ... one of the Europe's most romantic cities ... in my opinion the most beautiful city built by man ...
Venice is a city in nothern Italy, the capital of the region Veneto. It is built on an archipelago of 117 islands formed by 177 canals in a shallow lagoon. The islands on which the city is built are connected by 455 bridges.
There is something primordial about any trip on the water, in Venice. This amazing city puts you in contact with a fundamental reality ... to be in Venice is like floating again in the familiar and soothing maternal womb ....
This city has an eternal dimension, yet it is so fragile. Eternity and fragility, like love and death, like Eros and Thanatos cohabit into a tender, deeply mysterious embrace in Venice.
Burano is an island in the Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy; like Venice itself, it could more correctly be called an archipelago of four islands linked by bridges. It is situated near Torcello at the northern end of the Lagoon, and is known for its lacework and brightly coloured homes. Burano is also known for its small, brightly painted houses, popular with artists. The colours of the houses follow a specific system originating from the golden age of its development; if someone wishes to paint their home, one must send a request to the government, who will respond by making notice of the certain colours permitted for that lot.
