This palette knife oil painting is part of my series ''Abstract cityscapes''. I started this series of abstract cities years ago and it is a recurrent theme for me. I love to paint abstract cityscapes under bold, vivid, sometimes tormented skies - yellow, pink, purple, orange, red, blue, turquoise, even green skies, sometimes skies ''inhabited'' by huge sun or full moon...
In general I prefer to stylize the architectonic details of the houses. I paint mostly abstract cityscapes, as my main goal is to deconstruct the real architectonic shapes ( than to render them exactly as in reality) and to translate them practically in differently morphed color spots interacting with each other in various ways for generate the painterly quality of the textures, that I love so much.

I am a professional full time artist living in Bucharest, Romania, specialized in impasto palette knife textured colorful oil paintings. My paintings are textural impressionist, abstract figurative, with references to expressionism and fauvism. My style is best expressed in my series of Abstract Cityscapes. Everywhere I wandered, in Europe, Asia, North Africa, always I seek for panoramic views of the cities in which I am able to observe what I call the Abstract City...

I stood in this magnificent cathedral in 2004 in total awe at the absolute novelty and invention of Gaudi. Your painting Ana Maria is also magnificent, the textures mindful again of the many textural features inside....the invention of Barcelona as little squares of bright color...a la Gaudi's mosaics! So beautiful!!! F/L+++
Ana Maria Edulescu replied:
Thank you so much, Nancy. I'm fascinated by Gaudi's genius as well.
