Oia sunset, Santorini sunset ... there is something palpable about it's breathtaking beauty ... I felt I can touch the sun when I was there... I painted this work with this feeling in my soul - that I was there, where, if I wanted, I'd can touch the sun.
''ABSTRACT SANTORINI OIA SUNSET'' is a modern impressionist, abstract impasto palette knife oil painting by ANA MARIA EDULESCU.
I was inspired to paint this work by the amazing sunset scene from Oia village in Santorini island, Greece. I am in love with the Santorinian village named Oia with it's bright white houses, it's blue churches' domes and the stunning deep blue of the Aegean sea.
First time I visited the Greek island Santorini in 2010 and this summer ( in June 2017 ), after 7 years, I was again there to let my soul and eyes get inspiration of the beauty of this plac...
I am a professional full time artist living in Bucharest, Romania, specialized in impasto palette knife textured colorful oil paintings. My paintings are textural impressionist, abstract figurative, with references to expressionism and fauvism. My style is best expressed in my series of Abstract Cityscapes. I started this series of abstract cities many years ago and it is a recurrent theme for me. I am a wanderer, a beauty seeker ... traveling a lot and I find inspiration in the beauty of the places I am blessed to see. Always my eyes are haunted by Abstract City Patterns. Everywhere I wandered, in Europe, Asia, North Africa, always I seek for panoramic views of the cities in which I am able to observe what I call the Abstract City...
